I heard about this a few days ago, and thought it was an awesome idea.
What you need:
a Rubbermaid tote with a lid (or a 5/6 gallon bucket with lid)
toilet plunger with red rubber suction cup on end
laundry soap
water
dirty clothes
Cut a hole in the top of the lid big enough for the wooden handle of the plunger to go through. A friend of mine suggested also drilling a few holes in the rubber part of the plunger to make the washing more efficient (haven’t tried this yet though). Add water, detergent, and clothes. “Plunge” the handle around 200 times (you don’t have to do this at a fast pace, and could even sit in a chair and plunge away!). Rinse the clothes, wring, and hang on a clothes line.
Be sure to stock up on extra clothes pins and clothes line. Also, something to use as a wringer (such as a mop bucket with wringer attached) would be helpful.
i had a wringer washer once. All of my dress shirt buttons
(made of plastic) would break in 1/2 when I put them
through the wringer.
Just a heads up.
I am loving this and will be getting the items this weekend to make one of these. Thanks for sharing and I want to give you the heads up that I will be posting this link on my blog in the LINKS section. Hope you don’t care.
I’ve used the plunger method in the sink, bathtub, and
a small bucket. The lid is a marvelous idea for the
bucket. I’m going to do that, AND drill holes in the plunger –
never thought about that, either!
GOOD IDEAS!!

This is a laundry press that would go with this washer. It does not put your clothes through a wringer thus saving your buttons. It uses a five gallon bucket and the weight of your body to “press” the water out of your clothes.

Excellent information! Thank you so much!
Yah its true the washing machine works. But can we be able to clean the water and reuse it
i made one, they work great! takes some elbow grease tho, to use it, i was very pleasently surprised at how clean the clothes got
To remove the excess water get a second bucket. Drill 1/4 inch holes in the bottom and sides. Put the wet laundry in the hole’y bucket. Put the wash bucket on top of the laundry and sit on it. Your weight will force the excess water out through the holes.
